VoltScenes
VoltScenes is an interactive 3D visualiser for computing, split into two guided tours: a teardown of a modern computer — desk to tower to motherboard to CPU, with live labelling of components like the Control Unit, ALU, and Data Bus — and a walk through five eras of computing history, from Babbage's mechanical engine to the iPhone.
Results & Impact
The Challenge
Computing internals and computing history are usually taught through diagrams or text, which makes it hard to build real spatial intuition for how components fit together inside an actual machine.
The Solution
Built two guided 3D tours with React Three Fiber and Three.js: a teardown from desk to tower to motherboard to CPU with real-time component labelling, and a walk through five eras of computing history from Babbage's mechanical engine to the iPhone, narrated via the Web Speech API with a mute toggle.
